On Monday 21st of March COM EUFOR Major General Anton Wessely presided over a ceremony to mark the change of command of the Multinational Battalion. The Command of the Multinational Battalion was handed over from Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Sanz to Lieutenant Colonel Lukas Lamtsch, both members of the Austrian contingent in EUFOR.

A ceremony marking the completion of the SAFE-UP (Security Upgrade of Ammunition and Weapons Storage Sites in Bosnia and Herzegovina) project and signing of a contract between the OSCE Mission to BiH and the Ministry of Defense BiH on the donation of equipment from the SAFE-UP project was held in Sarajevo’s AFBiH Army Hall yesterday.

In light of the deteriorating security situation internationally and as a precautionary measure, the OP ALTHEA commander has accepted a voluntary national contribution from France to conduct fast-jet training flights over BiH over the coming weeks.

COM EUFOR Major General Anton Wessely had the great pleasure to welcome the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Mr. Josep Borrell to Camp Butmir.

 

Four companies, comprising approximately 500 personnel from EUFOR's reserves stationed outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be deployed, as a precautionary measure, in the country over the next two weeks to reinforce existing forces, in order to, more effectively support our BiH partners in maintaining a safe and secure environment.

Today at EUFOR BiH HQ in Camp BUTMIR, a ceremony took place to mark the successful achievement of Initial Operational Capability (IOC) by approximately 500 troops of EUFOR’s Intermediate Reserve consisting of four companies from Austria, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia. This IOC ceremony marked the successful completion of two weeks of intensive preparation and training, so that these troops are now operationally ready to support EUFORS’s BiH security partners in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens.

Today a conference on Cluster Munitions was held at EUFOR Headquarter in Camp BUTMIR in order to meet the goal of a Cluster Munitions free BiH by the end of this year.
