EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda attended the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board (PIC SB) Political Directors’ Meeting held at the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo on 3 June 2026.
The meeting brought together senior representatives of the international community to discuss the current political, security, and strategic environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as ongoing efforts to support peace, stability, and progress throughout the country.
During the meeting, Major General Fronda provided an overview of the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and outlined EUFOR’s continued efforts to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the operational environment. He reaffirmed EUFOR’s commitment to supporting the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens, in line with its mandate under Operation Althea.
The meeting also featured contributions from a number of distinguished international representatives, including Commander NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Jamie Fowler, and the Head of the NATO Political Engagement Support Cell (PESC), Ambassador Vladimir Vučinić, among others.
Addressing participants, Major General Fronda highlighted the importance of close cooperation among international partners in supporting long-term stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Effective cooperation, coordination, and dialogue among international partners remain essential in addressing shared challenges and supporting lasting stability. By maintaining a common understanding of the environment and working together in a complementary manner, we strengthen our collective ability to support peace, security, and stability for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina,”
said Major General Fronda.
The meeting reaffirmed the continued commitment of the international community to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina and highlighted the importance of coordinated engagement in responding to evolving regional and global security challenges.
