EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda hosted the French Minister for European Affairs, Mr. Benjamin Haddad, and the German Minister of State for Europe, Mr. Gunther Krichbaum, at Camp Butmir during an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ministers were accompanied by the European Union Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Luigi Soreca.
During the visit, the delegation met with Major General Fronda to discuss the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as EUFOR’s ongoing efforts to support a safe and secure environment in accordance with its mandate under Operation Althea.
Discussions focused on the importance of continued international engagement, cooperation, and support for stability throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Major General Fronda provided an overview of the security environment and highlighted EUFOR’s continued commitment to maintaining comprehensive situational awareness, operational readiness, and close cooperation with domestic authorities and international partners.
The ministers also had the opportunity to engage with French and German personnel serving within EUFOR, gaining first-hand insight into their contribution to the mission and their role in supporting peace and stability across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Major General Fronda praised the professionalism, dedication, and commitment of French and German troops deployed with EUFOR, noting the significant contribution both nations continue to make to the success of Operation Althea.
