A medal parade took place today at EUFOR Headquarters, Camp Butmir, with Commander EUFOR awarding Operation ALTHEA medals to over 40 personnel from 6 of the troop contributing nations. Commander EUFOR, Major General Luif, addressed the troops and thanked them for their support to Operation ALTHEA.

COM EUFOR, Major General Johann Luif, the Charge d’Affairs of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Embassy, Mr Dimitar Mitrevsky and EUFOR Senior National Representatives (SNR) gathered on 12 January 2015 at Monument Park in Camp Butmir to commemorate the death of 11 people from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in a helicopter crash 7 years ago.

Major General Dieter Heidecker today completed his two year tenure as the Commander of EUFOR. The Operation Commander, General Sir Adrian Bradshaw handed over the command of EUFOR to Major General Johann Luif at the ceremony in Camp Butmir today.
General Luif joins EUFOR from Austria where he was the Commander of the Military District of Burgenland. Before that he had been Deputy Commander of Kosovo Forces in 2011/12.

At 23 December 2014, Commander of EUFOR, Major General Johann Luif met the Chief of the Armed Forces of Switzerland, Lieutenant General Andre Blatter in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
General Blattman is traditionally visiting Swiss Soldiers in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina during Christmas time. General Johann Luif took the opportunity to thank the Chief of the Armed Forces for the contribution of the Swiss Armed Forces to EUFOR’s mission and expressed his wishes for good cooperation in the future.

The final version of the 2015 Capacity Building and Training (CB&T) Activities was signed on 15 December 2014, in Joint Staff Sarajevo by Major General Mirko Tepšić, the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff for Operations and Brigadier András Szűcs, Chief of Staff EUFOR.
The AFBiH-EUFOR CB&T Activities 2015 consists of a detailed list of all training courses, the Project List for the period of 2015-2018 and the 2015 Training Calendar. The document has been developed, as in previous years, in close cooperation with the Armed Forces of BiH.

Immediately after taking over as Commanding Officer of the European Forces on the 17 December 2014 in Camp Butmir, Major General Johann Luif, began his courtesy visits to EUFOR’s national and international partners.

Major General Dieter Heidecker after visiting the Charge d’Affaires, Dr Renzo Daviddi gave a farewell press statement summarising his 2 years of duty.
COM EUFOR used the opportunity to highlight the most important achievements of his tenure, looking at EUFOR’s executive mandate of supporting the efforts of the BiH’s authorities to maintain a safe and secure environment and also the non-executive mandate of providing capacity building and training support to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF BiH).
