On 5 November, the 15-member UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2594 (2020) under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, welcoming the continued presence of EUFOR ALTHEA and the EU’s readiness at this stage to continue an executive military role to support Bosnia and Herzegovina authorities to maintain the safe and secure environment.

The Security Council renewed authorization of the European Union Force

The resolution renews EUFOR's mandate for 12 more months and recognises that EUFOR ALTHEA will have the main peace stabilisation role under the military aspects of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
