Major General Johann Luif, Commander of the European Union Force (EUFOR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated on 14 May 2015 in a panel discussion on multidimensional benefits of defence sector assistance to civil authorities. Topics discussed were the integration of Armed Forces in Civil Society, strengthening the European integration process and possibilities to act from a EU perspective, with a special focus on disaster relief assistance in view of last year’s flooding which hit Bosnia and Herzegovina in May 2014.

The strategic politico seminar has been, as in previous years, organised by AFBiH in cooperation with the OSCE mission in BiH.

This year’s topic was “Defence Sector Support to the Civil Authorities. The seminar has been held in Sarajevo from 13th till 15th May 2015 in the Army hall. It represents the first step towards the process of developing the overarching guidelines and principles that will assist commanders and their staffs in planning, conducting, and assessing defence sector support to the civil authorities.
