Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, visited Sanski Most today, where he met with Mayor Mensur Seferović to exchange views on local priorities and the security environment in the area.

The meeting formed part of EUFOR’s continued engagement with local authorities and communities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Discussions provided an opportunity to hear the Mayor’s perspectives on issues affecting the municipality and to exchange views on developments relevant to the local security environment.

The visit also highlighted the importance of community initiatives that bring people together and create opportunities for young people. Among these is the annual Peace Camp, organised by the Center for Peacebuilding (CIM) during the school holidays. Over several days, children, pupils and students from the surrounding area take part in sports, walks in nature, preparation of local food and activities that encourage communication, cooperation and social interaction.

Such initiatives provide young people with a positive and meaningful way to spend their summer while strengthening connections within the community. They also reflect the importance of building a culture of dialogue and understanding at the local level.

Major General Fronda highlighted the importance of maintaining regular and open dialogue with local leaders, enabling EUFOR to remain informed of local perspectives and concerns while strengthening cooperation with authorities across the country.

EUFOR remains committed to working closely with local institutions, civil authorities and law enforcement agencies in support of peace, stability and a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
