On 8 September 2026, COM EUFOR visited Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje and Bugojno in Central Bosnia, where he met with the respective municipal mayors as part of EUFOR’s continued engagement with local authorities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

COM EUFOR Visits Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje and Bugojno

In Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje, COM EUFOR met with Mayor Esmin Hajdarević. The municipality is located in Central Bosnia Canton and has a mixed Bosniak-Croat population. During the meeting, COM EUFOR and Mayor Hajdarević discussed matters of local importance and the wider security environment, as well as the value of continued cooperation and dialogue between EUFOR and local authorities.

COM EUFOR then travelled to Bugojno, where he met with Mayor Edin Mašić. Bugojno is an important municipality in Central Bosnia and forms part of the regional urban area linking Bugojno, Donji Vakuf and Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje. The meeting provided a further opportunity to exchange views on local developments and to reaffirm EUFOR’s commitment to maintaining close contact with communities and institutions throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Later in the day, COM EUFOR visited Ammunition Storage Site Dalijani in Donji Vakuf, where he met Colonel Zdravko Rezo, Commander of the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and received an update on activities in the area.

Cooperation with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina is central to EUFORs mandate, and this engagement allowed for an engaging discussion around this cooperation with an emphasis on the recent Exercise Quick Response 2026, which saw increased training activities between EUFOR and AFBiH personnel.
