The Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, conducted an official visit to Bihać and Drvar today, where he met with the Mayor of Drvar, Ms. Dušica Runić, and the Commander of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Said Velić.

During the meetings, the mayor presented ongoing development initiatives, as well as future plans aimed at strengthening their community. Major General Fronda commended these efforts, emphasizing that such local development initiatives play an important role in the long-term stability and prosperity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As part of his visit, the Commander toured the EUFOR Temporary Staging Area (TSA) located at the ‘Adil Bešić’ Barracks in Bihać, where he was briefed by Lieutenant Colonel Velić, Commander of the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 6th Infantry Brigade. Major General Fronda reaffirmed EUFOR's commitment to continue conducting joint activities with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, building upon the strong relationship established between both institutions which underpins the safety and stability throughout the country for all citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The programme also included visits to the Romanian and Italian Liaison and Observation Team (LOT) Houses in Bihać and Drvar. These visits provided valuable insight into the daily work of EUFOR personnel and their engagement with local communities.

LOT teams highlighted their ongoing activities and the strong, trust-based relationships they have established with local citizens and institutions.

These engagements reaffirm EUFOR’s commitment, under Operation Althea, to maintaining close cooperation with local communities and partners across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
