The Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, met with a delegation from the Dutch contingent, in Camp Butmir. Deliberations centered on the current security situation in BiH, the operational objectives of EUFOR Althea, the ongoing Dutch contribution to the mission, public perceptions of EUFOR Althea within BiH, and the need for coordination between stakeholders in the country.

Major General Fronda Hosts Dutch Delegation for Strategic Discussions

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange assessments on the overall security environment and to reaffirm the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Major General Fronda outlined EUFOR’s ongoing operational posture and highlighted the mission’s readiness to support local authorities when required. The Dutch delegation expressed continued support for EUFOR’s mandate and underlined the value of sustained international engagement.

Discussions also focused on the Netherlands’ contribution to EUFOR, recognising the role Dutch personnel play in strengthening the mission’s capabilities. Both sides noted the importance of close cooperation among international partners, domestic institutions, and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure coherent and effective support to the country’s stability.

Major General Fronda highlighted public perception and community engagement as essential elements of EUFOR’s work, underpinning the legitimacy of the mission. The Dutch delegation and EUFOR leadership agreed on the importance of transparent communication and maintaining public confidence in the mission’s role.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the strong and longstanding cooperation between EUFOR Althea and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Both sides recognized the value of continued partnership and expressed their commitment to maintaining close coordination as EUFOR supports stability and security throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
