EUFOR’s annual exercise “Quick Response” will take place from 24th August to 16th September throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Commander of EUFOR Major General László Sticz held a press conference today, on 13 August 2024, along with the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF BiH) Lieutenant General Gojko Knežević for the purpose of informing citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina of EUFOR’s annual exercise ‘Quick Response’.
EUFOR’s annual exercise will involve in-theatre EUFOR troops from 23 nations who will be temporarily augmented by reserve forces from Austria, Hungary, Romania and international peacekeeping forces from Kosovo (KFOR – Kosovo Forces). The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate EUFOR’s readiness and confirm its continued support to its BiH partners in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During this large-scale training event, EUFOR will be supported by AF BiH in the conduct of this exercise by providing EUFOR with locations to carry out this training.
Between 24th August and 16th September, residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina can expect to see an increase in the volume of troop movements, patrol and other activities, and the movement of reserve forces equipment and helicopters throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, mainly in the area of Capljina, Glamoc, Livno, Orasje, Pazaric, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Ustikolina, and also at the border crossing points of Brod, Klobuk, Metaljka and Svilaj. Some of these events might be of increased volume or take place during the night.
EUFOR is taking all measures to minimize the impact of the exercise on members of the public. Local authorities and local population will be advised in time of any EUFOR movement in their vicinity, both through our Liaison Observation Teams and by press releases.
EUFOR is a strong, capable and reliable partner to the BiH authorities and remains committed to supporting them in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
