On Wednesday 14 March, Operational Commander of Operation Althea Lieutenant General Hubert Cottereau arrived in BiH to commence a three day visit.

On arrival he received a number of briefings from EUFOR HQ personnel regarding EUFOR operational and training capabilities and plans. Today, Lt Gen Cottereau, accompanied by COM EUFOR, was briefed by Multinational Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Matthias Lampl.

During the brief, Lt Col Lampl outlined the mission, operational activities and training exercises conducted by the MNBN. During the meeting they had an engaging discussion surrounding a number of matters including the structure, capabilities and equipment of the MNBN. Following this, Lt Gen Cottereau travelled to Hotel Igman where he received ground orientation and exercise briefs from members of the MNBN Romanian Coy.

Lt Gen Cottereau then observed an exercise during which the Romanian troops simulated the evacuation of a LOT house including the activation of medical and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) assets. Finally, a static equipment display was presented to Lt Gen Cottereau during which he was shown weapons and equipment from the MNBN Romanian Coy.
