Deputy Commander of EUFOR, Brigadier General Balint Legoza, visited the Bosnia and Herzegovina Border Police in the Zvornik area today, gaining first-hand insight into the work carried out by Border Police officers in the field and their cooperation with international partners.
As part of the visit, Brigadier General Legoza was briefed on the work of the Border Police Unit Zvornik and visited the International Border Crossing Karakaj. The programme also provided an opportunity to observe joint patrols conducted by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Border Police and Frontex officers deployed in the area.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina Border Police is a state-level agency responsible for border control and protection, working together with domestic and international partners to support the security of the country's borders.
The visit was attended on behalf of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Border Police by Assistant Director for Organisation and Operations Mr. Veljko Lazić and Chief of the Field Office East in Višegrad, MR> Nihad Dedić, alongside local Border Police commanders.
Visits such as this provide an opportunity to better understand the work of institutions directly involved in maintaining security and to strengthen cooperation, coordination and mutual understanding between EUFOR and its partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
