Strong partnerships begin with open dialogue. As part of EUFOR's continued engagement with communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, visited the municipalities of Bijeljina and Zvornik, where he met with the Mayor of Bijeljina, Mr. Ljubiša Petrović, and the Mayor of Zvornik, Mr. Bojan Ivanović.
The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on the local security environment, discuss the priorities of both municipalities, and hear firsthand the perspectives of local leaders. In Bijeljina, particular attention was also given to the upcoming Quick Response 2026 exercise, which will include a major one-day exercise in the municipality.
Major General Fronda and Mayor Petrović discussed the importance of keeping citizens informed ahead of the exercise. EUFOR and the municipality will work together to ensure timely communication with the local community and to minimize, as far as possible, any impact the exercise may have on citizens' daily lives.
These regular engagements enable EUFOR to remain closely connected with communities across the country while strengthening cooperation with local authorities.
Major General Fronda emphasized that lasting stability is built through trust, cooperation, and continuous communication. A safe and secure environment not only supports peace and security, but also creates the conditions for economic growth, stronger communities, and a better future for all citizens.
The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue and close cooperation in support of stability throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Operating under its mandate, EUFOR continues to support the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina by maintaining a visible, credible, and impartial presence across the country.
