The Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, met with the Ambassador of the Spain to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. María Molina Álvarez de Toledo in Sarajevo. The meeting formed part of the Commander’s ongoing engagement with diplomatic partners and provided an opportunity to discuss continued diplomatic-military cooperation and shared efforts to support stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Major General Fronda expressed appreciation for the Spanish contribution to international peace, particularly so through Spanish involvement within EUFOR. Major General Fronda highlighted the professionalism and dedication of Spanish personnel serving within Operation Althea, contributing to EUFOR’s successful achievement of it’s mandate providing a safe and secure environment for all citizens within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Both sides highlighted the value of close cooperation with EU Member States and diplomatic representatives in the country. Discussions also touched on EUFOR’s continued efforts to work in close coordination with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina to build domestic capacity and improve interoperability.
EUFOR remains committed to working closely with all contributing nations as it fulfils its mandate under Operation Althea. Major General Fronda reiterated his intention for EUFOR to remain a visible, credible, and impartial presence throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
