EUFOR Operation Althea Commander, Major General Maurizio Fronda, conducted an official visit to Doboj today, reaffirming EUFOR’s continued commitment to supporting stability and security efforts across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the visit, Major General Fronda met with senior local and national-level representatives, including the Deputy Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Aleksandar Goganović; Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Ms. Nina Bukejlović; Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Obren Petrović; and the Mayor of Doboj, Mr. Boris Jerinić.
The discussions focused on the security situation in the Doboj region, ongoing cooperation between EUFOR and local institutions, and shared efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Major General Fronda emphasized EUFOR’s impartial role and its long-standing partnership with communities throughout the country.
Local leaders expressed appreciation for EUFOR’s presence and its contribution to stability, as well as for the continued support provided to defence reforms and capacity-building initiatives.
Following the meetings, Major General Fronda and Deputy Minister of Defence Mr. Aleksandar Goganović visited the Technical Workshop for Ammunition Repair and Maintenance. This facility plays a central role in the effort to reduce ammunition-related risks, enhance safety standards, and ensure responsible stockpile management. These efforts directly contribute to the safety of communities throughout the country and align with EUFOR’s mission to support a secure environment.
Major General Fronda also visited the, Artillery Battalion of the 6th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Doboj, location where EUFOR can established Temporary Station Area (TSA) for different kind of coordination’s and cooperations as well as trainings with Artillery Battalion of Armed Forces of BiH.
Major General Fronda commended the professionalism of the personnel working at the facilities and highlighted the importance of sustained investment in ammunition safety and operational readiness. He reiterated EUFOR’s readiness to continue supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in strengthening its defence capabilities and ensuring long-term stability.
