The first 60 minutes or the “Golden Hour” can be determining when a medical emergency occurs, as responders have to be very quick, very professional and very good at teamwork.
During an Air Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) Exercise, in a scenario modelling a severe accident on a shooting range with multiple injured people, EUFOR Aviation Detachment proved again that they possess all these qualities and indeed, they are all best of the best.
Members of the Multinational Battalion were carefully prepared by ROLE-1 so they could „authentically”play the injured.
After receiving the request for medical assistance on the radio from the soldiers, the MEDEVAC team quickly reacted. After landing, the whole helicopter crew, medical and aviation professionals worked together to save their comrades and their efforts were finally crowned with success.
EUFOR MEDEVAC capabilities are primarily dedicated for emergencies related to EUFOR personnel, but based on the decision of the Commander of EUFOR, we rescued civilians from distress on numerous occasions during the past 20 years.
EUFOR remains committed to the provision of a safe and secure environment for all in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
