CSM Giuseppe Sorrentino
CSM Giuseppe Sorrentino joined the Italian Army in 1994 as a Junior NCO and was soon assigned to the 13th Land Artillery Regiment in Civitavecchia.
In 1997, he was posted to 185th Airborne Artillery Regiment “Folgore” in Livorno as Artillery Gunner.
Between the years 2001 and 2005, CSM Sorrentino accomplished the 2nd Warrant Officers Course at the Italian Warrant Officers School and has been subsequently appointed to 185th Airborne Reconnaissance and Targets Acquisition Regiment “FOLGORE” in LIVORNO where CSM Sorrentino assumed his leadership role as Special Forces Detachment Leader as a Special Forces Specialist. He served at the 185th during the regiment's integration into the Special Forces units, composed of specially selected and trained personnel, trained and equipped to conduct the full range of tasks typical of 'Special Operations'.
During his career, CSM Sorrentino served on multiple international missions, including four tours in AFGHANISTAN – ISAF NATO Mission as Special Forces Specialist, Deputy Commander of the Close Protection Team and Chief S3 Cell of SF Task Force “Victor”, two tours in IRAQ – “Inherent Resolve” NATO Mission as Special Forces Specialist and Deputy Commander of the Close Protection Team, two tours in BOSNIA and HERZEGOVINA - “Joint Endeavour” NATO Mission and “Althea” European Mission as Gunner and Chief S3 if the I.S.R. Multinational Unit, two tours in KOSOVO - “Joint Guardian” NATO Mission as Gunner and Special Forces Specialist and two tours in LEBANON - “UNIFIL” ONU Mission as Special Forces Detachment Leader.
CSM Sorrentino earned a degree in Management and Organization from the University of Tuscia and completed the following military training courses:
- Mountaineering Instructor;
- Operations Staff Assistant;
- Escort and Protection;
- Command Sergeant Major’s Course;
- Driving Instructor;
- Army long range boats pilot.
He is currently serving as the Command Sergeant Major of the 185th Airborne Reconnaissance and Target Acquisition Regiment 'FOLGORE'.
In recognition of his exemplary service, he has been awarded the 25 years Honourable Service Medal, Medaille de Bronze de la Defense National (France), Bronze Medal for long Parachuting Activity, National Commemorative Medals for operations abroad, Medal for the Operations to the assistance of the International Security maintenance as part of Military Operations in Afghanistan, Common Security and Defence Policy Service Medal for Headquarters and Forces, NATO Commemorative Medal for Kosovo, ONU Medal for Lebanon, NATO ISAF Non-Article 5 Medal for Afghanistan, NATO Non-Article 5 Medal for Iraq.
CSM Giuseppe Sorrentino is married and is father of two sons.
