From 13-24 January 2014, two NCO instructors from the Armed Forces of BiH (AF BIH) and a EUFOR Turkish contingent Mobile Monitoring Team (MMT) conducted a ten day Microwave & Satellite Communications course for members of AF BiH. This course was the first CIS training course in a series of 11 planned for the 2014. There were 13 trainees on the course, three officers and ten NCOs, which took place at the Tactical Support Brigade Barracks in Rajlovac.
At the Graduation Ceremony, EUFOR’s DCOS Capacity Building and Training (CB&T), Colonel Ahmet Uğur Gonel, congratulated the instructors, the MMT and the trainees on the successful completion of the course, before presenting the trainees with their course completion certificates. Also in attendance were EUFOR’s Chief of Training, Lt Col Johan Bouhuys, and Major Elmir Zukan, the Chief of AF BiH Tactical Support Brigade.
One of EUFOR’s CB&T Division’s main objectives is to assist AF BiH in achieving a robust and self sustainable training structure. As Microwave & Satellite Communications subjects are new areas for AF BiH, this course was the first step in 2014 towards achieving that objective. With the successful completion of this course, AF BiH now has its own trainers and is now in the position to develop further steps towards its own CIS training structure.
