On Wednesday 8th August 2018, the Minister of Defence for Poland, Mr Mariusz Błaszczak, visited Camp Butmir to meet EUFOR staff and to meet Polish soldiers working at the mission.

Minister Błaszczak was greeted by the EUFOR Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Gabor Horvath, he inspected the Honour Guard before meeting all the Branch Chiefs of EUFOR.

After exchanging gifts an office call took place in which Minister Błaszczak was updated on the current situation and ongoing EUFOR work by senior EUFOR Officers.

On completion of the office call with General Horvath Minister Błaszczak attended a Polish Military Ceremony with EUFOR's Polish soldiers to commemorate Polish Army Day. The Armed Forces day, known also as the Feast of the Polish Armed Forces is traditionally held on 15th August and is a national holiday in which parades are held throughout the country in commemoration for active personnel, veterans, and those lost in battle.
