Also during his speech COM EUFOR spoke about the obstacles women have overcome and highlighted the importance of the presence of females in the military stating:

“The presence of female soldiers, marines, sailors and aircrew improves access to community members, amplifies situational awareness and provides necessary balance in times when peacekeeping success relies greatly on an ability to communicate with and adequately absorb concerns of the entire population”

COM EUFOR invited COM NATO HQ Sarajevo, Brig. Gen. Pamela McGaha, to speak. During this speech she thanked all women for their work and dedication to supporting NATO and EUFOR. She outlined this was her third time to attend this type of event in Camp Butmir and was delighted to see that it is growing every year.

Following this, light refreshments were served and the women who work in Camp Butmir had an opportunity to meet and talk to each other.
