On 5 – 7 May 2014, General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, the European Forces Operation Althea Commander, is visiting EUFOR Camp Butmir and BiH
This is General Bradshaw’s first visit to BiH since taking over as the new Commander of the European Union lead Operation EUFOR Althea from General Sir Richard Shirreff. General Sir Adrian John Bradshaw (born 1958) is a very experienced British Army officer and the current Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

The Deputy to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe commands the European Operational Headquarters (OHQ) which is located north of the Belgian city of Mons.
General Bradshaw’s rapid visit to Sarajevo after his appointment underlines the importance of the ongoing European Military Mission with its main tasks: the capacity- building and training support for the Armed Forces of BiH and the support to the national institutions in building a stable security environment.
General Bradshaw will be in the country for three days and his visit program will include visiting BiH Weapon and Ammunition Storage Sites.
The presence of surplus ammunition and weapons in BiH continues to be a risk to security, and also constitutes a financial and administrative burden for the Armed Forces of BiH. EUFOR continues to support the BiH authorities in solving this problem, mainly through the provision of expert advice and with our Capacity Building and Training Programme for the Armed Forces of BiH.

The desired outcome is the transparent disposal of surplus ammunition and weapons and the introduction of a safe and sustainable ammunition and weapons through-life management programme in BiH.

General Bradshaw is also planning to have meetings with the Ministry of Defence and the EUSR in Sarajevo.
