COM EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker and COS EUFOR, Brigadier General József Szpisák both received awards from COM NATO Brigadier General Walter Lord at NATO HQSa Dining-In Ceremony on 5 June 2013 at the Army Hall in Sarajevo.

The awards speech delivered by Brigadier General Lord recognized that the relationship between EUFOR HQ and NATO HQ Sa had historically been good but the impact of the positive, pro-active and engaging leadership styles of both the current Commander and Chief of Staff at EUFOR had resulted in an outstanding level of co-operation and much closer ties between the two organizations.

COM EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker and COS EUFOR, Brigadier General József Szpisák expressed that they were both honoured and highly appreciative of the award which honours meritorious service while in a position of high responsibility.

COM EUFOR commended Brigadier General Walter Lord for his exemplary leadership while at NATO HQ Sa and all he had done to ensure NATO HQ Sa and EUFOR were together a fine exemplar of what is truly meant by the word “Team”.
