From the 5th until the 9th of October, the Multinational Battalion (MNBN) of EUFOR and infantry from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) conducted combined training in Dubrave. Lead by the Capacity Building and Training branch of EUFOR, the joint training was set up to instruct soldiers tactically in peace support operation techniques. EUFOR were represented by the Hungarian company of the MNBN, which had advisory responsibilities during the training.
On the 1st of October Hungarian members of the EUFOR Multinational Battalion took part in a teambuilding exercise, walking in the area around Bjelašnica. 130 people were on the walk, the second time that the MNBN have conducted the activity this year. Joining the Hungarian soldiers were other members of EUFOR including Austrian staff.
On Wednesday the 12th of August a ceremony was held marking the change of command of the EUFOR Multinational Battalion (MNBN). The Multinational battalion is a group of soldiers from nations around Europe who combine to serve within EUFOR. Lieutenant Colonel Michael Köck handed over to Lieutenant Colonel Reinhard Bacher during the event witnessed by guests including COM EUFOR Major General Johann Luif and COM NATO HQ Sarajevo Brigadier General Giselle Wilz.
On the 30th of September Austrian members of EUFOR and distinguished guests visited ‘Radnost’ Kindergarten in Bratunac. During the visit a ceremony was conducted thanking the Austrian personnel for their donation of a playground facility. Present at the ceremony were the head of the Kindergarten Mrs. Jadranka Magazin, Bratunac Mayor Mr. Nedeljko Mlađenović, head of local social affairs department Mrs. Olja Čučić and EUFOR Austrian contingent commander Col Juergen Schlechter. A ribbon was cut during the ceremony, marking the formal donation before the children began using the equipment.
On Monday 29th of June an Austrian platoon from the EUFOR Multinational Battalion (MNBN) conducted helicopter boarding training, exercising their ability to quickly move personnel to areas around Bosnia and Herzegovina. The platoon conducted a number of flights, practicing their facility to rapidly load equipment and transport themselves with the helicopter.
On the 14th of September the Turkish soldiers of the EUFOR Multinational Battalion, alongside other EUFOR personnel working within Camp Butmir took part in an ‘Alpine March’. The event consisted of the group walking for over 6 hours to the peak at Bjelašnica.
On the 16 March 2015 a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) exercise was planned and conducted by the Multi National Battalion (MNBN) in the vicinity of Sarajevo. To ensure the exercise was as realistic as possible the actors, played by soldiers of the Austrian Coy, were made up to look injured, some with minor injuries and others with major injuries such as limb loss, both fake blood and some home-made props were used.
