EUFOR Multinational Battalion Change of Command Ceremony

The incoming Commander of the Multinational Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Vitovec, receives the Colours from Chief of Staff EUFOR, Brigadier General Zoltán Mihócza.

The command of the Multinational Battalion was handed over from Lieutenant Colonel Reinhard Bacher to Lieutenant Colonel Michael Vitovec, both members of the Austria contingent in EUFOR. Lieutenant Colonel Vitovec summarised in his speech during the ceremony, ‘The EUFOR Althea mission is challenging and interesting. I am fully aware of the important role the Multinational Battalion plays in Capacity Building and Training for the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in conducting Combined Training together’
Safe and Secure Environment
The MNBN exercises regularly with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) and in autumn of this year another exercise alongside reserve troops from across Europe will take place. The exercise, called Operational Rehearsal, will train EUFOR’s capability to bring in reserve forces to assist BiH authorities in maintaining a safe and secure environment if required. The exercise happens every year, in co-operation with AFBiH and troop contributing nations.
