MISSION
The Integrated Police Unit (IPU), as part of EUFOR, has the mission to:
- Contribute to the safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina by assisting in the maintenance of public order and security;
- Support the implementation of civilian aspects of the General Framework Agreement of Peace, in accordance with EUFOR tasks.
In doing so, IPU may conduct operations in support of BiH Law Enforcement Authorities, as well as in cooperation with other International actors or even autonomously.

In addition, the IPU may be tasked to provide a tactical reserve to reinforce, if necessary, KFOR in Kosovo.

TRAINING

 

When not engaged in executing tasks, the IPU constantly trains to refine its expertise in executing cordon operations known as Blue/Green Box, applying counter civil disturbance operations (CDO) procedures with crowd and riot control (CRC) techniques. The aim is to contribute to the maintenance of public order, in support of the Local Enforcement Agencies. The IPU also trains in a variety of fields such as performing support for investigative operations, when requested by EUSR/HR, in providing appropriate anti-terrorism measures to ensure force protection and trains in providing familiarization to the troops for their employment all over the BiH AoO by means of vehicle/helicopter transport.

EQUIPMENT
The platoon size IPU Units are fully equipped with (CDO) gear, such as self-protective bullet proof helmets and vests, gas masks, shields and batons, semiautomatic handguns and light and heavy  machine guns. All units are motorized with 4 wheel drive vehicles. Secure communication for a chain of command from EUFOR to IPU HQ and to its Subunits are provided by radio/satellite transceiver.
