Mine Risk Education Instructors from EUFOR and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF BiH) conducted Mine Risk Education on Sunday, 26 May 2013 at an a major scout convention at STOJCEVAC (Sarajevo).

It is highly appropriate that this Mine Risk Education was dedicated to scouts because they spend 90% of their time in the nature of Bosnia and Herzegovina which is still heavily contaminated with mines and UXO’s.  Over 80 scouts, boys and girls in the age between 7-18 years attended the event and were from Serbia (ZAJECAR) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (TREBINJE, KONJIC, ZENICA, NEMILA, SREBRENICA, SARAJEVO, DONJI VAKUF and BRCKO).
The Mine Risk Education programme was conducted in the field currently used by scouts in STOJCEVAC,  where they were shown mine and UXO models and minefield signs.
After delivering a short introduction to the mine situation in BiH, AFBIH instructors presented their work, equipment and the  tools used for demining. This kind of MRE training is very important, because of the fact that attendees were from different regions and multiethnic background.  The information and training delivered can therefore have wide impact across the region.
