THE Commander of EUFOR, Major General (MG) Dieter Heidecker, received a warm welcome from Her Excellency Ambassador Ulrike Maria Knotz during a courtesy visit to exchange policy briefs at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Sarajevo (15 February 2013).

Briefing on current EUFOR policy priorities, MG Heidecker highlighted EUFOR’s endeavours to provide Capacity Building and Training for the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF of BiH).  COM EUFOR also made clear his organisation’s firm commitment to improve progress in disposing of the stocks of ageing surplus ammunition and weapons currently being stored and guarded in various sites throughout BiH.
Ambassador Knotz explained her concerns on the economic policy issues currently affecting the people of BiH.  Of particular concern was the lack of progress by BiH authorities in making sure that both appropriate infrastructure and trade procedures were in place before Croatia’s accession to the European Union in mid-2013.
Both COM EUFOR and Ambassador Knotz appreciated the opportunity to share perspectives and approaches to their respective key policy areas.
