EUFOR can confirm that COMEUFOR has received an official letter from a member of the BiH Presidency requesting EUFOR air assets, should such assets be available, to assist with combating the wild fires in the country.

Considering the current UN Mandate 2549 the main task of EUFOR is to maintain the Safe and Secure Environment (SASE). Based on this mandate, EUFOR does not possess the specific equipment to aerially combat wild fires.
However, EUFOR is willing, upon receipt of a formal request, to support the firefighting authorities of BiH with air reconnaissance to localise spots of wild fire and to guide firefighters on the ground if needed.
