Commemoration Ceremony held at Camp Butmir

COM EUFOR Major General Johann Luif, Representative of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Embassy Mr Aleksandar Krstevski, and the EUFOR Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’s Senior National Representatives Major Igor Nikchevski, gathered on 12 January 2016 at Monument Park in Camp Butmir to commemorate the death of 11 people from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in a helicopter crash 8 years ago.

Exercise Quick Response 15 Distinguished Visitors Day

On the 20th of October in Mika Bosnic Barracks in Manjaca, EUFOR and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovnia (AFBiH) held a Distinguished Visitors Day during Exercise Quick Response 15. The event was attended by Dr. Emir Suljagić Deputy Minister of Defence for Policy and Planning and Lieutenant General Anto Jeleč Chief of the Joint Staff of the AFBiH, alongside Commander EUFOR Major General Johann Luif.

Austrian Minister of Defence and Sport visits EUFOR Camp Butmir

On the 10th of September the Austrian Minister of Defence and Sport Mr Gerald Klug together with the Governor of Burgenland Mr Hans Niessl visited EUFOR Camp Butmir. He received an honor guard as he was greeted by COM EUFOR Major General Johann Luif. Mr Klug has held the position since 2013.

EUFOR Operation Commander discusses Exercise Quick Response 15

HRH The Princess Royal visits EUFOR

On 10 July 2015, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited European Forces (EUFOR) personnel based in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo.
Commander EUFOR Major General Johann Luif greeted The Princess Royal with an Honour Guard, alongside NATO and UK representatives. The Princess then spoke with Major General Luif and Commander NATO Brigadier General Giselle Wilz about the role of EUFOR and NATO within Bosnia and Herzegovina.

NATO/EUFOR weigh claims carefully and thoroughly

Slovenian Minister of Defence Visits EUFOR

On 19 June 2015, Commander (COM) EUFOR, Major General Johann Luif, hosted the Minister of Defence of Slovenia, Mrs Andreja Katič during her visit to EUFOR.
In a meeting after she was welcomed with an Honour Guard at Camp Butmir, Mrs Katič spoke with Major General Luif about EUFOR’s mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Capacity Building and Training programme for the Armed Forces of BiH.

EUFOR Operation Commander visits Sarajevo

The EUFOR ALTHEA Operation Commander, General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, was welcomed at EUFOR Headquarters on Monday by Commander EUFOR, Major General Johann Luif at the start of a 3 day visit.

EUFOR Chief of Staff Handover Takeover Ceremony

Brigadier General András Szűcs today completed his 14 month tenure as the Chief of Staff of EUFOR. He formally handed over to Brigadier General Zoltán Mihócza during a Handover / Takeover ceremony at Camp Butmir.
