EUFOR annual Exercise Quick Response 2016, update 29 September

EUFOR is currently well underway with Exercise “Quick Response 2016”. This exercise is the culmination of nearly two years of planning and will take place 30 Sep to 6 Oct, in the Armed Forces BiH (AFBiH) military exercise area Manjača, near Banja Luka. Over 750 Soldiers from EUFOR, AFBiH, United Kingdom, Austria and the NATO KFOR Tactical Reserve Company of Portuguese and Hungarian soldiers will participate in the exercise, which will be combining joint training for the AFBiH and their international partners with the yearly test for EUFOR to call forward their Immediate Reserve Forces in order to be prepared should the authorities of BiH request their assistance.

Commander EUFOR (COMEUFOR) Major General Friedrich Schrötter and AFBiH Operational Commander Major General Dragan Vucković are pleased to announce the combined Exercise “Quick Response 2016”. This exercise is the culmination of nearly two years of planning and will take place in the AF BiH military exercise area Manjača, near Banja Luka later this month.

Medal Parade for EUFOR by COMEUFOR Major General Friedrich Schrötter

A medal parade was held 15 Sep at EUFOR Headquarters in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo. COM EUFOR, Major General Friedrich Schrötter, presented the European Union Common Security and Defence Policy Medal Althea to 108 service personnel from 8 different nations and thanked them for their dedicated service in and for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

KFOR Change of Command Ceremony

Today, Commander EUFOR, Major General Schrötter attended the Kosovo Force Change of Command Ceremony between Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta and Major General Giovanni Fungo at Camp Film City Pristina.
The ceremony was also attended by the Allied Joint Force-Naples Commander, U.S. Navy Admiral Michelle Howard, the Italian Chief of Defense, General Claudio Graziano as well as President Thaçiand senior Representatives of Institutions in Kosovo and the International Community.

Visit to Ammunition Storage Site (ASS) KRUPA

On 1 Aug 16, Commander (COM) of EUFOR Major General Friedrich SCHRÖTTER visited Ammunition Storage Site (ASS) KRUPA. The visit was vital in order to get a clear picture of ongoing activities at the prospective Ammunition Storage Sites located around BiH. After a cordial welcome and briefing by AFBiH Colonel MRKOVIĆ, COM EUFOR was given an introduction to the site and the various processes and storage areas.

NATO and EUFOR stance on protest 19 July 16 outside Camp Butmir

On 13 July 2016, attorneys Salihbegovic and Kapetanovic notified NHQ Sa and HQ EUFOR that they have been informed by their clients and other claimants, that they will continuously hold protests and blockades of Camp Butmir until they are officially and publically advised regarding the status and resolution of their claims.

12th Session of the Strategic Committee for Weapons, Ammunition and Explosive Ordnance

The 12th session of the Strategic Committee for Weapons, ammunition and explosives, hosted by the Commander of EUFOR (COMEUFOR) Major General Friedrich SCHRÖTTER in BiH, was held at the Hall of the AF BiH, Sarajevo on Monday, June 13, 2016 in order to analyse and promote activities aimed to solving the issue of surplus weapons, ammunition and explosives in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Commander EUFOR Change of Command

Major General Johann Luif today completed his 15-month tenure as Commander EUFOR. The EU Special Representative, Ambassador Wigemark assisted in handing over Command of EUFOR to Major General Friedrich Schrötter at the ceremony in Camp Butmir today.

EUFOR’s Support of the Management of Excessive Stockpiles of Ammunition and Weapons in BiH

On Thursday 19 May 16, Commander EUFOR, Major General Friedrich SCHRÖTTER visited the military unit "Tehnička radionica za održavanje municije" (TROM) in Doboj to witness the important work they conduct in support of destroying obsolete ammunition as part of Project EXPLODE. This visit was also attended by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Project Manager, Mr. Slobodan BOŠKOVIĆ, and the Deputy Commander of the Support Command of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH), Brigadier General Gojko KNEŽEVIĆ.

Irish Ambassador Visits Headquarters EUFOR

On 25 February 2016, the Irish Ambassador, Mr. Seán O Regan visited Headquarters EUFOR in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo. During an office call with Commander EUFOR, Major General Johann Luif, the Ambassador was thanked for Ireland’s continuing support to the EUFOR Mission.
