Commander EUFOR and BiH Minister of Security visit Zvornik Border Crossing

Commander EUFOR Major General Reinhard Trischak and Minister of Security of BiH Selmo Cikotić travelled today to the Border Crossing Point in Zvornik. After EUFOR and its reserve forces again successfully cooperated with the BiH Ministry of Security and BiH Law Enforcement Agencies during Exercise Quick Response 2020, Minister Cikotić invited Major General Trischak to an on-site visit of the Border Police at one of the most frequented crossing points with Serbia. This reiterates the high level of cooperation between EUFOR and the BiH Law Enforcement Agencies.

EUFOR Quick Response 2020 arrives at Sarajevo International Airport

Exercise Quick Response 2020 is taking place concurrently in multiple locations across BiH. In the afternoon of Wednesday 2 September, as part of Exercise Quick Response 2020, a dynamic exercise took place at Sarajevo International Airport, which rehearsed the simulation of attempted airplane hijacking and terrorist attack. This is the fourth year in a row that SIA is taking part in the exercise. Acting Director of the Airport Alan Bajić said that airplane hijacking is one of the hardest terrorist acts and one of the most complex crisis situations and continued: “Airport staff and other participants invested a lot of effort to make sure that exercise is conducted properly. I want to thank everyone who participated in the exercise. Although we hope that we would never have this situation in a real life, it is good to know that we have well trained personnel and procedures”.

EUFOR Exercise Quick Response 2020 Opening Ceremony

Sunday 30th August 2020 marked the opening ceremony for EUFOR’s Exercise Quick Response 2020. The annual exercise tests EUFOR’s capability to call up and deploy over-the-horizon reserve forces held at high readiness by contributing nations.

EUFOR and AFBiH Training and Cooperation plan 2021

A Training and Co-Operation Plan between EUFOR and the Armed Forces Bosnia and Herzegovina was signed on 25th August 2020 in Sarajevo.
The training plan was signed by EUFOR Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Ernő Baráth, and Major General Ivica Jerkić, Deputy Chief Joint Staff Operations for Armed Forces Bosnia and Herzegovina.

BiH Ministers join COM EUFOR at demining site

COM EUFOR, Major General Reinhard Trischak had the pleasure of hosting BiH Ministers and BHMAC representatives today at a demining site near Kalesija 120km north of Sarajevo. The delegation landed in the area close to Tuzla by EUFOR helicopter and were able to witness demining operations first hand.

Combined mine clearance operation

EUFOR mine clearance experts based at Camp Butmir joined up with a team from the Federal Department of Civil Protection (FUCZ) to make safe some newly discovered devices. The mines were discovered near a hiking trail in a remote part of the Pašina Mountain where access by vehicle is impossible. EUFOR used one of its helicopters for the 8 minute flight to winch the teams in close enough so they could walk to the mined area and begin making it safe.
