They are nearly invisible, silent and continuous. Day by day the EOD companies Armed Forces beneath several NGOs work under extremely difficult circumstances in order to remove and clear the deadly threat in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the 18 February 2014, at EUFOR Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, a Farewell Parade was held for the ‘4 star’ EUFOR Althea Operation Commander, General Sir Richard Shirreff. Attendees included the incoming Operation Commander, General Sir Adrian Bradshaw and the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker.
A Turkish Mobile Mentoring Team, from EUFOR’s Capacity Building and Training Division, mentored Armed Forces of BiH (AF BiH) instructors in a 10 day Cellular Radio Communications Course which took place from 3 to 14 February 2014. This course was the third in a cycle of 11 Communication and Information Systems (CIS) courses planned for 2014.
The aim of this course, which was attended by 15 Non Commissioned Officers from different AF BiH units, was to mentor CIS Instructors from AF BiH.
AFBiH 2013 Training Conference took place in Sarajevo on 13 February 2014. The AFBiH Training Conference is a regular, planned activity of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with clearly defined goals:
To present results of the training conducted in 2013 by all AFBiH command and control levels, To consider all aspects of functionality of the training process and challenges that AFBiH commands and units encounter in that process,
With a series of conferences, held from 4th to 7th of February in Camp Butmir and at the Armed Forces of BiH (AF BiH) Military Base in Dubrave near Tuzla, EUFOR and the AF BiH launched the detailed planning of forthcoming exercises that will be held in early June of this year.
On 3 February 2014, a Bilateral Support Cooperation Forum was held in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo for stakeholders involved with building the capacity of the Armed Forces of BiH (AF BiH). The purpose of the forum was for these stakeholders to share best practice, to increase cooperation and communication with each other and to support each other in their capacity building activities for AF BiH. The forum was initiated by the Defence Attachés (DAs) of nations supporting AF BiH and was hosted by EUFOR. Attendees included Defence Attachés (DAs) from supporting nations, personnel from EUFOR and NATO HQ Sarajevo (NHQ Sa) and members of AF BiH.
